Hi, Doug,
A word from the Lord: "If any man will come after me, let him
deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Luke 9:23
(KJV)
What is your cross? Is it disease, obesity, emotional problems, or
life in general? In this issue we'll seek to offer help in overcoming
the weight of the world on our shoulders. Come on in and join us.
Remember, Jesus loves you, and so do we.

Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease |
 |
When Marilyn and I attended the 2005 Health Minister's reunion
at Hallelujah Acres, N.C., we met the famous Dr. Caldwell B.
Esselstyn. He has a new book out that everyone needs to read. His
12-year study of cardiac patients who were hopelessly destined for
death, in spite of all the famed Cleveland Clinic could do for
them, has been documented in his new book, "Prevent
and Reverse Heart Disease". The plant-based diet with minimal
medication proved to be the cure for heart disease. Not one
cardiac event (angina, stroke, heart attack, etc.) was experienced
by his patients, and all of them achieved a total cholesterol of
below 150, an area Dr. Esselstyn calls "heart attack proof".
The Hallelujah Diet can also help you to be "heart attack proof"
IF you leave off ALL oils and nuts, including recipes that
contains these foods. Get your omega 3's by including flaxseed in
your diet.
If you think that you are already "heart
attack proof" then think about this. Dr. Esselstyn's fellow
surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic had a severe heart attack at age
44, and he had no family history of heart disease, was not
overweight, was active physically, and had a total cholesterol of
156! He became "Essey's" best patient and lowered his cholesterol
to 89 mg/dL, cut his LDL level from 98 mg/dL to 38 mg/dL, and did
it WITHOUT ANY MEDICATION on a strict plant-based diet. Here is
Dr. Esselstyn's diet that reversed heart disease.
Here are the rules to his program:
You can eat the following:
It works!

Dr. Dean Ornish |
 |
A Champion of the low-fat diet , Dr. Dean Ornish has been
crusading for a healthier diet (with limited fish or fish oil) for
over 25 years. His research and writings document the extensive
scientific evidence that the plant-based diet is the best defense
against heart disease.
He also explains that the term low-fat can have different meanings
when people read research articles. For instance Dr. Ornish
pointed out that a recent study in the Journal of the American
Medical Association found that low fat diets don't protect against
heart disease, stroke, breast cancer, and colon cancer. He says
that this study was flawed because the participants did not lower
their fat intake to the 10% level as the study was intended to
require. He also reveals that the standard scenario of most
cardiologists is as follows.
In general, most people who have elevated cholesterol levels
are put on a 30% fat diet and asked to return a month or two
later. When their cholesterol levels have not come down very much,
as is usually the case, then they are told, "Looks like you failed
diet, now we have to put you on cholesterol-lowering drugs for the
rest of your life." See Dr. Ornish's interview with PBS
Frontline entitled "Diet
Wars".
Dr. Ornish says that the patient should have been told that a more
drastic change can make a real difference and without drugs. It's
a choice the patient must make. One, you can make a small change,
take the drugs, feel generally bad and not remove the danger of
death by heart attack. Or two, you can make the drastic change,
and feel great and discipline yourself to keep on the low fat diet
and become heart attack proof.
The difference in these two medical doctors and their
recommendations are that Dr. Esselstyn warns us that we need to
get off ALL oils and animal products to guarantee our heart health
(as well as cancer and other disease protection), while Dr. Ornish
allows the patient to decide to limit oils and fats to a point
that life is enjoyable and the risk of death by heart disease is
lowered but not totally eliminated by diet.
This parallels what I have said in my book, "Winning the Battle
for the Body". We can go for God's "permissive will" and follow
the rest of Americans over the cliff and into heart disease,
dementia, cancer, and early death. Or we can go for God's "perfect
will" and discipline ourselves to return to the original
plant-based diet that will lead us to a healthy, disease-free,
abundant, long life lived for Jesus. Marilyn and I believe that
The Hallelujah Diet & Lifestyle is the closest regimen for getting
back to that original plan for health. Won't you try it? Order the
book,
