"Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old
things are passed away; behold, all things are become
new. And all things are of God who hath reconciled
us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the
ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in
Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing
their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us
the word of reconciliation." II
Corinthians 5:17-19.
In this passage, we are told that we can have our slate
washed clean of sin. We can have a new start.
Through repentence and trust in Jesus, God's perfect
Son, we can be reconciled or restored to fellowship with
God. He will "impute" or brand us with the word
"innocent" when we trust in Jesus' blood. But we
are also commanded to carry this word of reconciliation
to others. Do you know how to witness? Go to
wayofthemaster.com to find out how Jesus witnessed
to others using the Ten Commandments. Enjoy this
issue and learn how to renew your health.
In
this cursed world aging is inescapable. In
fact, scientists have determined that human cell
division is limited to an age of about 120 years.
So what are the factors that can cause premature
aging?
In the latest Hallelujah
Acres Health News magazine, research scientist
Michael Donaldson, PhD, says that there are several
factors that can speed up or slow down the aging
process.
Antioxidants
If you want an antioxidant diet the best place to
look is a wide variety of plant foods. Dr.
Donaldson says that "there is a much wider variety
of phytochemicals in a plant than you will ever find
in a bottle. When was the last time you saw
falcarinol on a supplement label?
And yet this polyacetylene found in carrots,
parsley, fennel, parsnips, and celery root has
anticancer properties. Yet one more reason to
drink carrot juice." He says that supplemental
antioxidants are beneficial in stressful
circumstances, but cannot replace the wide variety
of antioxidants in plant foods. For our
richest food, high in antioxidants and
proven to protect DNA from free-radical damage
see
BarleyMax at our web site.
Lowered Glucose & Insulin Levels
According to Dr. Donaldson, high levels of blood
glucose cause a lot of advanced glycemic endproducts
(AGSs) to be formed. These AGSs are
useless molecules that account for many of the
side-effects of diabetes. The higher the level
of glucose in the blood, the more AGSs are formed.
He says that a fasting level of 85 mg/dL is
acceptable, but optimal levels should be around 75
mg/dL. People on the Hallelujah Diet can
achieve these levels in a matter of weeks or even
days from beginning the diet.
Weight Control It is very difficult to
become overweight on a diet full of raw fruits and
vegetables, since that is a low-fat, low-calorie,
high fiber diet. Did you know that excess
weight aroung the middle actively causes systemic
inflammation, thus accelerating aging?
Heart Disease, Strokes, Diabetes, and Cancer
Plant-based diets like the Hallelujah Diet have been
recognized even by the government to prevent and
reverse heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and
cancer. When given the original foods God
intended for our bodies the self-healing mechanism
is triggered to prevent premature aging.
Coupled with proper exercise, sunshine, and rest,
the plant foods work in synergy to bring strength
and wellness to the body.
Biophotons Dr. Donaldson points out
that raw foods contain biophotonic light, which
enables the DNA in the cell nucleus to communicate
with the cell membrane and create order rather than
chaos in the electromagnetic field of the cell.
Supplying continually coherant energy to our bodies
helps our cells to be healthier and live longer.
Raw foods contain roughly 83 times the biophotons as
does a junk food diet.
Helpful
Supplements Vitamin D can improve
health no matter what age and that is why Hallelujah
Acres offers several sources of Vitamin D. The
B complex vitamins are also indirect anti-aging
supplements that reduce the levels of homocysteine
in the body and supply a host of other important
molecules in the body. Dr. Donaldson says that
"Omega 3 fats support healthy mental aging as well.
These fats are well known for their
anti-inflammatory action, a major contributor to
disease and suffering...Optimal amounts of DHA may
be necessary for the brain to age well and avoid
dementia.
From the Journal of American Agricultural and Food
Chemistry comes a new study with some surprises
about the amount of antioxidants foods contain.
We all have heard about the high antioxidant content
of berries, but this study says that small red dried
beans is the champion. The study investigated
the antioxidant content of more than 100 foods,
including fruits, vegetables, cereals, breads, nuts,
and spices. Wild blueberries came in second,
but ranking 3rd and 4th on the list were two more
beans, dried red kidney beans and pinto beans.
So what are we learning from the new study?
"What we're discovering is that we only know about a
thimbleful of all the antioxidants that are probably
within foods," says (David) Grotto, who is also a
spokesman for the American Dietetic Association.
"What's unique about eating foods vs. supplements is
that there is always more bang for the buck in
eating the foods, and you get a lot of those
compounds that we really don't fully understand the
benefits of yet."
Also discovered was the
fact the most foods have more antioxidant content
when raw than with cooking, but some foods like
tomatoes have increased antioxidant content when
cooked.
All this means we need more
varied raw fruits, nuts, seeds, and vegetables in
our diet to get a variety of nutrients that God put
in synergy into those wonderful foods. The
Hallelujah Diet promotes 85% raw to 15% cooked
foods, while varying that percentage to accomodate
thinner people or those who want more calories in
their diet. Won't you consider a Back to Life

Emotional Aging
What emotions can actually age you faster?
Here is a short list.
Worry:
Anxiety has been proven to shorten life spans
according to a Purdue University study. Also,
a study in Scotland concluded after 21 years of
research that worry was significantly related to
risk of death from cardiovascular disease.
Depression: Neil Medley, M.D. and author of
Depression The Way Out says "A folic acid (or
folate) deficiency can be a direct cause of
depression. I have found this a much more
common cause of depression in meat-eaters than in
vegetarians". He says that plant foods contain
many more times the amount of folate than animal
foods.
Diet: Did you know that
certain foods can trigger worry? Because an
acid rich diet (animal protein, processed foods,
caffeine, and sugar) weakens the body's ability to
remove toxins which stress the body. Since our
brains are composed of 85% water, it will help us to
think more clearly and be more emotionally stable if
we are hydrated with plenty of pure water.
Over-eating: Statistics prove that calorie
restriction is thought to retard the activity of
aging related to free radical reactions. So,
since metabolism is the primary generator of free
radicals, just cutting down on your food intake can
have positive effects in keeping you younger.
Spiritual State: Your attitude about life and
death has a marvelous positive effect on your length
and quality of life. My favorite pastor and
Bible teacher, Dr. Adrian Rogers, in his book,
Mastering Your Emotions, said "And not only can
negative emotions take life from your years, they
can take years from your life."
"But
they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their
strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall
walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

Marilyn's Sweet Potato Pie
This is one of our favorite recipes, and sweet potatoes
are a very nutritious food. This Basic Pie Shell
recipe is from Rhonda Malkmus'
Hallelujah Holiday Recipes from God's Garden,
available at our web site. Here is how to make the
crust.
1/2 cup raw nuts 1/2 cup quick
rolled oats (I use the old fashioned oats.) 1 cup
whole-grain flour (or Arrowhead Mills Organic Pastry
Flour) 1/2 cup distilled water
Grind
nuts and oats in dry blender. Put in bowl.
Add whole-grain flour and mix dry ingredients well.
Add water. May be rolled out between wax paper or
pressed into pie plate and rolled with pizza roller.
This crust is easy to flute, if desired.
Filling: 2 medium sweet potatoes cooked in small
amount of water and beat with a hand mixer 2
tablespoons Earth Balance 1/3 cup raw honey 1
tablespoon ground flaxseed 1/4 cup almond milk
1 teaspoon Frontier vanilla 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
dash of cinnamon
Combine filling ingredients
and mix well. Pour into pie shell. Bake at
350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until center is set and
top loses gloss. Makes a great dessert for October
and November meals.

Secrets to Growing Younger
Brother George Malkmus, founder of The Hallelujah Diet &
Lifestyle, looks and acts far younger than his 76 years.
No, this is not his wife Rhonda. Ponce de Leon was
not the only one who wanted to discover the
fountain of youth. We all dream of living to a
ripe old age with vitality, but is it so far fetched to
be able to do so? No. Especially if you have the
discipline and faith in God's original foods.
This issue of God's Food for Life will help you to know
how to live longer with more youthful appearance and
energy.
